GHRP-2: What It Is and Its U.S. Regulatory Status

What is GHRP-2?

GHRP-2 stands for growth hormone-releasing peptide-2. It is a synthetic peptide made of six amino acids, also known by the generic name pralmorelin. Like other compounds in its group, it acts on the ghrelin receptor and signals the pituitary gland to release growth hormone.

GHRP-2 was developed in the 1990s as part of a family of related synthetic peptides that also includes GHRP-6.

U.S. regulatory status

Current status: Not FDA-approved.

This means the FDA has not approved GHRP-2 as safe and effective for any medical use. No product containing it is an approved medicine in the United States.

Growth hormone-releasing peptides, including GHRP-2, are prohibited in competitive sport under the World Anti-Doping Code.
